Every shrimp keeper knows the problem: soil substrate is essential for lowering pH and releasing nutrients, but after some time, these buffering capacities are exhausted. Previously, this meant: empty everything, restart the aquarium. With the ShrimpPuddle Soil Background XL, this stress is a thing of the past!

Why the Soil Background is a must-have for invertebrate tanks:

• Easy Soil Change: The background is subtly placed at the back wall and filled with active soil. Is the soil used up? Simply remove the box, empty it, refill it, and put it back – done! Your remaining layout stays untouched.

• Constant Water Parameters: By strategically placing fresh soil in the background, you maintain the pH value and carbonate hardness permanently in the ideal range, without having to replace the entire substrate.

• Inconspicuous Design: We designed the box to be barely noticeable at the back wall. As soon as mosses or plants grow in front of it, the background becomes almost invisible.

• Optimal Flow: The slits with a distance of 1.5 mm guarantee excellent circulation of the soil, so that its water-influencing properties can fully unfold.

• Versatile Use: With its volume, the background is ideal for aquariums up to 100 liters.

Technical Details:

• Slot spacing: 1.5 mm (perfect for standard soil, not suitable for powder soil).

• Recommendation: Ideal for Caridina tanks and aquascapes with delicate inhabitants.

Important Safety Notice from ShrimpPuddle: To protect the biology of your tank, please never suddenly replace 100% of the soil. We recommend gradually refilling the box with fresh soil over several weeks. This prevents a sudden pH drop and gives your animals time to adapt to the changed water parameters.
