Minerals are vital for shrimp, crayfish, snails and crabs – but they cannot produce them themselves. The small, soft sticks contain both inorganically and organically bound minerals to prevent deficiency symptoms, which manifest as molting problems, stunted growth, and high mortality rates in juveniles. For snails, they prevent pitting of the shell and support uniform, strong shell growth.
